Picture of a platinum nanoelectrode as it is being submerged into an aqueous solution. The picture was taken with an Infinity2-1 camera from Lumenera Corporation, using a Caltex VZ-400 lens at a magnification of 20X. Because the surface of the electrode is hydrophilic, the solution forms a meniscus around the tip as it wets the walls of the electrode. The sharp end of the nanoelectrode is partially seen below the meniscus although refraction distorts the image a little bit.
