Description

Atoms, in all the materials surrounding us, ordered themselves to form a repeated symmetric pattern. Properties of crystals are defined through their lattice symmetry. Here is the example of the different symmetries of materials.

Material's electrical, magnetic, thermal and elastic properties all depend on its underlying symmetry. Convergent- Beam Electron Diffraction  (CBED) is a powerful technique to study the full symmetry of a crystal. The patterns here are a combination of the experimental and simulation CBED for different crystalline materials.
