11th Annual Art of Science Competition Exhibit at The Santa Barbara Museum of Art

The Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships at The University of California, Santa Barbara is proud to announce the winners from the 11th Annual Art of Science Competition. The Artist Reception will be taking place at The Santa Barbara Museum of Art on Thursday May 30th, 2024 from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome. 

 

This year the competition received 30 outstanding entries and awarded 11 winners as follows: 

 

1st place - “Creatures that Connect the Coast” by Grace Lewin

2nd place - “Kaleidoscope Sugar” by Jack Hopper

3rd place - “entirely reciprocal” by Emme Birkholz

Best Caption & People’s Choice - “The Urchin’s Test: More Than A Grade” by Sophia Cabral

Best Data Visualization - “Four Loop Graphs” by Paige Hillen

Honorable Mention - “When Microscopic Life Imitates Art” by Jonah Rosas

Honorable Mention - “Remains. Coral I Killed in Mo’orea” by Lily Zhao

Honorable Mention - “Guiding Quantum Light” by Sahil Patel

Honorable Mention - “The Landscape of Leaf Level Spectroscopy” by Milo Brown

Honorable Mention - “The face of magnetism in graphene” by Trevor Arp

Honorable Mention - “NESTosis” by Hadley Hanson

 

Their work will be on display at The Santa Barbara Museum of Art from May 30th - July 28th 2024. Afterwards, it will be located at the University of California, Santa Barbara Library from August 20th - December 16th 2024 in the mountainside gallery.
