Description

As hermit crabs grow, they move into new shells to accommodate their growing bodies; without one, they are incredibly vulnerable. A strawberry hermit crab, Coenobita perlatus, tackles the housing shortage (too few empty shells) on Palmyra Atoll by settling into a washed-up glass jar instead.
