Waterborne Autonomous Low-Light Electro-stereo-videography
Team Wall-E led by Dr. Todd Oakley have designed a underwater, standalone camera rig. The directive: To capture 3D, underwater images of bioluminescent mating displays in Caribbean crustaceans called ostracods. This is a composite image made from a diagram of ostracod mating displays originally used primarily for scientific talks. Superimposed on this diagram is a real picture of the "eyed" camera unit poised atop the hardware inclosure. Wall-E is a collaborative project between Dr. Todd Oakley, his lab at UCSB, and the UCSB Engineering Capstone Program.
