United Cesium of America (exfoliated CsV3Sb5)
Description
The weak bonds between Cesium layers and the honeycomb Antimony layers in the CsV3Sb5 crystal allows exfoliation by just a piece of sticky tape. This exposes either the Cs or the Sb layer. This exfoliated crystal resembles the U.S map with Florida missing, perhaps due to a natural disaster
This is an image is taken with a phone looking through a microscope. The crystal is roughly a couple of millimeters across. CsV3Sb5 is a single crystal consisting of 3 main layers (Cesium (Cs), honeycomb Antimony (Sb), and a kagome layer of Vanadium (V) atoms interlaced by Sb atoms). Exfoliating the crystal is known as "cleaving." There, a piece of adhesive is used to pull away the top layers of the crystals exposing a clean surface below. This is useful for optical experiments where one wants a reflective surface.
