Grab your optical microscope and take a peek into the exciting world of organic crystals. It all starts by dissolving carbon-based compounds called small-molecules in a solvent to form a solution. When droplets are deposited onto a substrate, the solvent evaporates leaving behind beautiful crystals.
The approximately 30 micron long small-molecule crystals were deposited onto a silicon substrate with 0.1 x 0.1mm silicon nitride membrane windows.
