Extrusion of cells happens in response to apoptotic stimuli. During apoptotic apical extrusion, the cell that is going to die produces the bioactive lipid, S1P (Green circles) which binds to S1P2 receptor (Orange Squiggle) that activates the pushing of the cell out, which subsequently dies. Hand drawn and colored with Copic pens.
