Description

This is a bulk crystal of the semiconductor Gallium Nitride (GaN). GaN is used in LED and high-power devices. GaN has a hexagonal crystal structure (can be noticed in the image as three-dimensional growth of black hexagons islands). The terrace steps in the image are two-dimensional growth.
