Description

What you cannot see are the microbes that live in and on the surfaces of oil and sediment. Marine microbes can consume and use hydrocarbons as a source of energy. Sediment sampled from Lake Superior. Oil is diluted bitumen, a heavy refined oil transported throughout pipelines across the contiguous USA.
