Description

Inorganic materials come in many crystal habits.  The image here is of wurtzite zinc oxide, which exhibits hexagonal symmetry in its crystals.  This high resolution scanning electron micrograph (SEM) displays nanometer sized single crystals of ZnO.

This image is of an uncoalesced hydrothermal ZnO film taken on a FEI XL40 Sirion FEG SEM.
