Best Data Visualization Award - DIGITAL COLONIZATION - A Decentralized Social Network for the Social Nomads
Description
Digital colonization is an architecture design project that studies the evolution of ethnocentrism and uses its ABM (agent-based model) to investigate inter-group/intra-group social interactions (cooperation and competition) in the internet space. The project catalogs communicational phenomenon during such interactions, translates them into architectural threshold typologies and establishes a dictionary of architectural language to map the internet space. To generate the design output, the project takes the ichnographic form of Nolli map of Rome, creates a generative system that takes ABM simulation data and generate corresponding dynamic fluid representation of the current crowd of social interaction on the internet. The ichnographic map is a procedural generated result of metrics from simulated interaction and conversion from phenomenon to architectural symbol.
